Lily bounded out of bed this morning at 6:45 and said, "Mom, today I am a kindergartener!" It was amazing that she got up without poking, proding and threatening from me as she hasn't gotten up before 8 AM all summer! She was definitely ready and excited about the adventures that today was going to hold for her. I was also very excited for her because I knew we had done all we could to prepare her, and her experience last year in preschool was tremendous. They fully prepared her for what was to come. Last year, I was much more hesitant about sending her to school, but I did not have a doubt or reservation this year. I did shed a few tears with her last night. She let me pray for her rather than with her, and that experience was very touching. Here she is with her back pack and ready to go!
She picked out this Tinkerbell backpack and lunch pail after I nixed the Miley Cyrus backpack.
Grace, of course, had to get in on the action, and this picture is just oh so sweet! Grace spent the day at "Nana school" because I was working today.
Lily's sitting at her desk and ready for her friends to come so she can play. She told me last night she was looking forward to recess the most. In that respect, she's her Father's daughter. I was more academic that that! (Yeah, right! ;)
She is standing here in front of her classroom door. She RAN to the classroom this morning.
This afternoon I asked her what she wanted me to pack in her lunch for tomorrow. She informed me that she's not supposed to go to school tomorrow! I guess the convo about "all day, every day" was lost on her this summer. She already fell asleep in the car on the way home today, so we'll see what tomorrow brings!
