I know...I have been a bad blogger. Maybe it's my aversion to what I know is really coming...Winter. Only 12 more days of sunlight past 5 PM. I am sad. Last weekend though, Charlie and I headed up to San Francisco for a much needed night away from our kids. Don't get me wrong. I love them to pieces, but it's so nice to not have to bathe them, feed them or run after them for 24+ hours. And, we got some really good face time (you know...when you can actually sit, have a conversation and look each other in the face instead of watching with one eye to see what your kids are doing.). I still woke up at 6 AM on Sunday morning, but I could stay in bed, read the paper and watch my favorite morning news show. We happened to be visiting SF during Fleet Week (who knew!?), and we stayed on the Embarcadero, so we had a prime viewing spot from our bay view balcony room (thanks Mom!) at the Hyatt. We ate our way through the Ferry Building and then watched the Blue Angels fly over the Bay. The picture above is not mine. My camera happened to have a dead battery all weekend!
We were then directed to a wonderful Italian restaurant about 5 blocks away from our hotel. It's directly across from the Transamerica building at 550Washington and called Chiarascuro. Please visit if you are ever in San Francisco and want an authentic Italian meal. The gnocci is wonderful. We happened to get there early, and they don't have a bar, so we went around the corner to The Bubble Lounge for a drink. What fun! They have all kinds of champagne by the glass. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Sunday morning found us at Nordstrom, shopping for boots for me. Charlie then decided to go up to the Bistro, where, wonder upon wonders, they have a full bar! This was one of his more enjoyable shopping trips, I am sure. I was able to shop uninterupted for more than an hour...heaven! After Nordstrom, we went to the 49ers vs. Eagles football game, which was also pretty fun (Can't say that it compared to Nordstrom, though!) We left the game a little early, rounded out our day away with a meal at Harris Ranch, and we were home by 10.

Sounds like a really nice getaway, Julie. Definitely need to have a little freedom from kids every once in awhile!
