In Science, the Kindergarteners learn about plants, their life cycle, their parts, and how they grow. A family from our school owns a LARGE farm about 45 minutes west of our town, so the kids headed out there on a chilly and windy day last month. The students are getting a precarious ride in the above picture. Some were not so happy as the pallet was raised and lowered. Lily, of course, loved it! They use the above machine to transport flats of vegetables that are ready to be planted.
We were taken out to a field of iceberg lettuce, given boxes and knives, and allowed to pick whatever we wanted. The field where we were picking could not be picked and sold because of rain damage. We left with 6 boxes of lettuce! We passed some out to family and friends, but then we took the rest to the Mission downtown.
