Our chicken girl

Brooke, the animal lover on our road, decided to take over this chicken coop by her horse arena about a year ago. Last winter all of her laying hens were picked off by a coyote, so she started out with 40 new chickens this past spring! Lily is in love with the chickens. A day doesn't go by without her asking at least 5 times, "Mom, can we go to the chickens?" I don't like chickens, so usually her dad does the honors. She chases them around, catches them, hugs and kisses them. I think that her Great-Grandpa Hubers (who used to own an egg produce) would be proud! A couple of weeks ago, I asked Lily what she wanted to be when she grew up. After a little discussion, she declared quite vehemently that she was going to be a chicken girl! What that means, I don't know, but the girl is in love with animals, so she may just end up doing something that involves animal care.

Yes, she is kissing the chicken here!
Grace can't figure out why her sister is so infatuated with the chickens. Mind you, it was already 80 degrees out at 7:30 AM, so maybe she was just communicating her discomfort!
